Why I built GlobalTax

Hi, I'm Amit. I've worked across multiple countries and helped friends and colleagues evaluate job offers, relocation packages and remote-work moves. Every time the same question came up: "What will I actually take home there?"

Existing calculators were either single-country, behind paywalls, drowned in ads or — worst of all — out of date. I built GlobalTax so anyone, anywhere, can get an honest, side-by-side answer in seconds, with the official source clearly cited.

The purpose

  • Free forever for personal use — no signup, no email wall.
  • Transparent: every country shows the tax year and the official source.
  • Global by default — 50 countries, USD conversion on every figure.
  • Scenario-first — compare countries and US states for the same income.

How it works

A single shared calculation engine applies progressive bands defined in each country's data file. Country-specific add-ons — filing status, sub-national selectors, surcharges, levies, reliefs and social contributions (e.g. Singapore CPF, US FICA) — are layered on top through the same engine.

Data sources

Brackets and thresholds come from each country's official tax authority (IRS, HMRC, ATO, CRA, IRAS, Income Tax Department of India, BIR, Belastingdienst, ESTV, BMF, FTA and others). Figures are reviewed periodically — always verify against the official source before relying on any number.

What's out of scope

  • Corporate income tax
  • Capital gains, dividends and other non-wage income (except where noted)
  • VAT / GST / sales taxes
  • Local / municipal taxes beyond stated sub-national selectors

Disclaimer

Estimates only. Not tax, legal or financial advice. Verify with a qualified professional or the official tax authority of the country you are filing in.
